The Client: Aetna/ Prudential
Aetna/Prudential is the product of a merger of two of the largest publicly held insurance companies in the United States, each with a broad line of insurance products and other financial services in its portfolio. The company has more than 15,000 employees at 50 locations in the United States, and more than 50,000 IT assets supporting its operations.
The Challenge
In addition to needing an accurate inventory for IT strategic planning, Aetna/Prudential also wanted to consolidate its internal user support process, and it needed to know not only what hardware was in place, but also what operating systems, software, and versions were installed at each location.
The Solution
Asset Inventories specialists visited each location and took a full inventory of each computer and peripheral device, noting detailed operating system and software information, network connections, and shared asset relationships.
Aetna/Prudential and its third-party service provider used the reported results to realign its support organization and begin an upgrade program to retire older equipment and get the entire organization using a common platform for IT. The result was improved service, internally and externally, at a lower overall cost.
Testimonials
The inventory reporting we provided to Aetna/Prudential allowed the client to restructure their approach to supporting valued employees – and it saved them enough money to pay for significant upgrades in many areas, without any increase in their approved budget. It feels great to be able to make that kind of contribution … and to see how much it meant to them.K.M., AI Senior Manager after completing a comprehensive asset inventory for Aetna/Prudential
